Alexander once passed this way
to beings of the spirit
this realm is full of challenges

Aphrodite bids the man-boy a sweet farewell
on the heroes journey
a boot now planted in both worlds

Pausing by an old Euphrates flow
Hercules transports soldiers to Sumeria
Nebuchadnezzar's Ziggurat near

The Earth washed by human waters
reveals an ocean shell way marker
a reminder of things past

In the palace the Man of Staffs
views remote imagery and hears a voice
as old and as patient as eternity

Calling from Damascus
Thanatos comes, scythe in hand.
It seems Baghdad is an old destination

Earth sadly knows, under the Sun
nothing changes except themes
and that war is an industry of Babylon

Earth Sadly Knows
